Ukraine Visa

In the Ukraine, visa applications are usually a two-step process which involve obtaining “visa support” before the application for a visa can be made. 

Visa support in business visa applications consists of an invitation from a Ukrainian business, authorised by the Ukraine Ministries of Foreign and Internal Affairs. 

For candidates applying for a Ukrainian tourist visa, the visa support requirement can be fulfilled by obtaining a Tourist Voucher which once again needs to be approved by the Ministry.

Ukraine allows foreign nationals from some countries to visit for a maximum period of 90 days without the need to apply for a visa.  This concession is extended to citizens of the United Kingdom and other European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) states, the United States of America, Canada and Japan.

Types of Visa for Ukraine

Ukrainian Tourist Visa

Ukrainian tourist visas are issued for either a single entry or for double/multiple entries to Ukraine. 

In the case of a single visit visa, the maximum permitted duration is 90 days within a six-month period.  For visas which are valid for two or more entries, the maximum grant of leave is between six and twelve months.

Tourist visas are a temporary visa service designed for people entering Ukraine for the purposes of tourism and do not permit their holder to undertake employment. 

The maximum durations reflect the upper limit which may be awarded to an applicant but do not necessarily represent the amount of leave which will be granted. The duration of the permit will be awarded based upon the circumstances of the application.

Ukrainian Business Visa

Ukrainian business visas can also be issued for a single entry or for double or multiple entries. 

Visas for one or two entries are generally issued for a period of six months; a multiple entry business visa may be valid for up to four years. 

Business visas are not intended as work permits and do not constitute the right to work in Ukraine, whether in paid or unpaid employment. 

Business visas are designed for people whose professional activity requires them to visit the Ukraine in order to engage in other business activities such as visiting conferences or meetings.

Eligibility

As outlined above, both visas for tourism and business in Ukraine require ‘visa support’ in the form of an authorised invitation from a Ukrainian business or a Tourist Voucher.  

For business visitors, the letter of invitation must state the purpose and nature of the trip and should provide contact details for the Ukrainian business involved. For multiple entry business visas a letter from the applicant’s employer in their country of residence must also be provided.

For tourists, visa applications must be supported by a Tourist Voucher with confirmation of a booking at a Ukrainian hotel. This must include the applicant’s contact details and the duration of the trip.

In all cases, applications must be accompanied by a passport which is valid for at least six months as well as onward or return travel documents.

Spouse and Dependent Immigration

As temporary visa services, tourist and business visas for Ukraine do not make provision for an applicant’s family members to accompany them. 

The spouse, common law partner, civil partner, and/or dependent children who wish to join the main applicant in Ukraine will need to make their own individual applications.
